Send an SMS Broadcast
Composing a text message and sending it as an SMS Broadcast is a fast way to reach subscribers on their phones. This page walks an Author through creating the message, choosing who receives it, and sending or scheduling the Broadcast.
Before you begin
- Confirm SMS is enabled on your account and that you have an approved sending number or short code (confirm the exact steps in your account).
- Have a subscriber list ready that includes valid mobile numbers and SMS consent. Sending without consent can get your number blocked.
- Know your message content. SMS is short — plan for roughly 160 characters per segment; longer messages are split and may cost more.
- Prepare any personalization tokens (for example, a first name) and a working test number for yourself.
Steps
- Create a new SMS Edition in the Folder where you organize this campaign (confirm the exact steps in your account).
- Compose the message text. Keep it concise, insert personalization tokens where needed, and include a clear opt-out instruction (such as "Reply STOP to unsubscribe").
- Select the subscriber list or segment that will receive the Broadcast. Verify the count looks right before continuing.
- Send a test to your own mobile number and check the text, links, and personalization on a real device.
- Choose to send now or schedule a send time, then confirm to launch the Broadcast.
Result
The SMS Broadcast is queued and delivered to the selected subscribers. You can confirm success by watching the send status change to delivered/sent and by reviewing delivery, click, and opt-out counts in reporting once messages have gone out.
