Pre-Send Checklist
Run a final quality and deliverability check before any Broadcast goes out the door.
Scenario
You have finished building an Edition and you're ready to send. Before you commit thousands of subscribers to what you've built, you want one repeatable pass that catches the mistakes that are expensive to fix after a Broadcast is live: a broken link, a missing personalization value, an image that doesn't load, or a subject line that lands in spam. This playbook gives you that final gate.
Prerequisites
- An Edition that is content-complete and living in its Project Folder.
- The recipient audience (segment or list) selected and reviewed for size.
- At least one seed/test address you can send a preview to (confirm the exact steps in your account).
- Any personalization tokens populated with fallback values for subscribers missing data.
Steps
- Proof the content. Read every line for spelling, tone, and accuracy. Confirm dates, offers, and the sender name are correct.
- Send a test to yourself. Send a preview Broadcast to your seed addresses and open it on both desktop and mobile. Check images render, layout holds, and nothing is cut off.
- Verify personalization. Preview the Edition as a real subscriber to confirm tokens resolve correctly and fallbacks appear where data is missing. See Personalization tags.
- Click every link. Test each link and button, including the unsubscribe and any tracked URLs, to confirm they point where you expect.
- Check interactive content. If the Edition contains a survey, poll, or other in-email interactivity, submit a test response to confirm it records. See Surveys.
- Confirm deliverability hygiene. Review the subject line and preheader, and make sure suppressed and unsubscribed subscribers are excluded. See Manage the suppression list.
- Confirm audience and schedule. Re-check the target segment, the send time, and time-zone handling before you schedule or send.
Measure success
After the Broadcast goes out, open its report and confirm delivery rate, open rate, and click-through are in your normal range, with a bounce and complaint rate at or below baseline. A clean checklist run shows up as fewer hard bounces and no spike in unsubscribes. See the Metrics dictionary for definitions.
