Broadcast Statuses
Every Broadcast (an Edition that is sent out) carries a status that tells you where it is in its lifecycle — from the moment an Author schedules it, through any approval step, to the point where delivery finishes. Use the status to know whether a send is still editable, waiting on someone, in flight, or complete. The exact labels shown in your account may differ slightly (confirm the exact wording in your account), but the stages below are representative.
Reference
| Status | Meaning | Typical next step |
|---|---|---|
| Draft | The Edition is still being built and has not been queued for sending. | Finish the content, then schedule or send. |
| Scheduled | A send date and time are set; the Broadcast is queued and will send automatically when that time arrives. | Wait for the send time, or reschedule/cancel. |
| Pending Approval | The Broadcast is waiting for a reviewer to approve it before it can go out. | An approver approves or rejects it. |
| Approved | Review is complete; the Broadcast is cleared to send at its scheduled time. | Sends automatically at the scheduled time. |
| Sending | Delivery is in progress; messages are being handed off to subscribers. | Wait for completion; avoid editing. |
| Sent | Delivery has finished for all recipients in the target audience. | Review reporting and metrics. |
| Paused | Sending was temporarily halted, either manually or by the system. | Resume or cancel the Broadcast. |
| Cancelled | The scheduled send was called off before delivery started. | Reschedule if still needed. |
| Failed | The Broadcast could not be sent, or delivery stopped due to an error. | Review the cause and resend or contact support. |
Notes
- Statuses move roughly in order (Draft → Scheduled → Sending → Sent), but approval and pause states can insert extra steps depending on your account's workflow.
- Once a Broadcast reaches Sending, editing the Edition no longer affects messages already in flight. Make content changes while it is still in Draft or Scheduled.
- A Sent status means delivery to your provider completed — it does not by itself confirm that every subscriber's inbox accepted the message. Check reporting for opens, bounces, and other delivery metrics.
- Pending Approval and Approved appear only when an approval step is enabled for your Folder or account.
