Link clicks aren't being tracked
Find out why click activity isn't recording in reports and restore accurate link tracking.
Symptom
After a Broadcast, subscribers are clearly visiting your links, but the report shows zero (or far too few) clicks. Opens may record normally while the Clicks and Click-through metrics stay flat, or only some links in the Edition register activity.
Likely causes
Ranked from most to least common:
- Click tracking was turned off for the Edition or the account, so links were delivered as-is and never rewritten to route through the tracking redirect.
- Links added after tracking was applied, or hard-coded links that bypassed the editor (for example, pasted raw HTML) and were never wrapped for tracking.
- A plain-text-only send, or a subscriber's client showing the plain-text part, where tracked redirect links may not apply.
- Test or preview clicks that don't count toward Broadcast reporting, or clicks landing before the tracking window / report refresh completes.
- Security scanners and link-protection tools at the recipient's mail gateway pre-fetching links, inflating or distorting counts rather than suppressing them.
Fixes
- Confirm click tracking is enabled for the Edition before sending, and check any account-level tracking setting (confirm the exact steps in your account).
- Rebuild links through the editor's link tool instead of pasting raw anchor HTML, so each link is wrapped for tracking, then resend a test.
- Ensure your Edition includes a properly built HTML version, since tracked redirects rely on it.
- Allow time for reports to refresh, and view results in the Broadcast report rather than from preview or test clicks.
- If counts look inflated, compare against unique clicks to filter automated scanner hits.
Still stuck?
Note the Edition name, send date, and a specific link that isn't recording, then contact your account's support channel so tracking can be verified end to end.
