Turn Link Tracking On or Off for a Broadcast
Link tracking rewrites the links in an Edition so that each click is recorded before the subscriber is forwarded to the destination. Turning it on lets you measure click-through and see which links performed best; turning it off sends the original, unmodified URLs. This page explains how to set the tracking option for an Edition before it becomes a Broadcast.
Before you begin
- You need edit access to the Edition and the Folder (Project Folder) it lives in.
- Decide whether you want click data for this send. Tracking is normally on by default.
- Know that changing this setting affects only the Edition you are editing, not other Editions in the Folder (confirm the exact steps in your account).
- If you turn tracking off, links will not appear in click reports for this Broadcast.
Steps
- Open the Edition you plan to send and go to its sending or delivery settings.
- Locate the link tracking option (often shown as a "track clicks" or "link tracking" toggle) (confirm the exact label in your account).
- Switch the toggle on to record clicks, or off to send the original URLs unchanged.
- Optionally exclude individual links you do not want tracked, such as unsubscribe or legal links, from the link's own settings.
- Save the Edition, then preview or send a test to confirm links resolve correctly.
- Schedule or send the Edition as a Broadcast.
Result
When tracking is on, clicked links redirect through your tracking domain and appear in the Broadcast's click reports. When it is off, subscribers reach the destination directly and no click data is collected for that Broadcast. Send a test message and click a link to verify the behavior matches your setting.
