Send a personalized bulk Broadcast from a spreadsheet

Upload a spreadsheet of subscribers and merge their data into a single Edition so every recipient gets a message personalized to them — names, account details, links, and more — in one bulk Broadcast.

Before you begin

  • An Edition built in the Folder you want to send from, ready for review.
  • A spreadsheet (typically .csv or .xlsx) with one row per subscriber and a header row naming each column.
  • An email-address column, plus a column for each field you want to personalize (for example FirstName, Company, AccountLink).
  • Clean data: no blank email cells, no duplicate addresses, and consistent header names that match the personalization tags in your Edition.
  • Permission to import subscribers and send Broadcasts in your account (confirm the exact permissions in your account).

Steps

  1. Open the Edition and add a personalization tag everywhere you want spreadsheet data to appear, using the exact column header as the field name (for example a FirstName tag for a FirstName column). See Personalization tags.
  2. Start a new Broadcast for the Edition and choose the option to send to an uploaded or imported list (confirm the exact steps in your account).
  3. Upload your spreadsheet, then map each spreadsheet column to the matching subscriber field and personalization tag. Confirm the email-address column is mapped correctly.
  4. Review the import summary for skipped rows, duplicates, or suppressed addresses, and fix any data issues in the spreadsheet before continuing.
  5. Send yourself or a small seed group a test to confirm the merge fields resolve correctly for real rows.
  6. Schedule or send the Broadcast.

Result

The Broadcast goes out with each subscriber receiving a copy personalized from their spreadsheet row. Track delivery, opens, and clicks on the Broadcast's report to confirm it landed — see the Metrics dictionary for definitions.
