Edit, Crop, and Resize Images

Adjust images in the media library before adding them to an Edition — trim away dead space, resize a photo so it loads quickly, or produce a consistently sized version for reuse across Editions.

Before you begin​

  • Have the image uploaded to the media library. If you have not added it yet, upload it first.
  • Know the width you are designing for. Many email layouts render around 600 px wide, so a hero image rarely needs to be wider than that. (Confirm the exact content width in your template.)
  • Decide whether to overwrite the original or save a copy. Editing in place changes the file everywhere it is already used, so save a copy when you want to keep the original intact.

Steps​

  1. Open the media library and select the image you want to change.
  2. Open the image's edit or preview view. (Confirm the exact button or menu in your account.)
  3. To resize, set a new width and let the height scale proportionally to avoid stretching. Keep the longest edge at or below your layout width so the image is not scaled up by the email client.
  4. To crop, select the crop tool, drag the frame to the area you want to keep, and apply. Use a fixed ratio if you need several images to match.
  5. Add descriptive alt text so the image is accessible and still meaningful when images are blocked.
  6. Save your changes — as a new copy to preserve the original, or in place to update every Edition that already references it.

Result​

The updated image appears in the media library at its new dimensions and is ready to drop into an Edition. Send yourself a test Broadcast to confirm it displays cleanly on desktop and mobile before sending to subscribers.
