Preview Personalized Content
Preview an Edition as a specific reader to confirm tokens fill in correctly. Previewing as a real subscriber shows exactly what that person will see, so you can catch empty tokens, wrong fallbacks, or conditional blocks that don't behave as expected — before you Broadcast.
Before you begin
- An Edition open in the editor that already contains personalization tokens (for example, a first-name greeting or an account field).
- Access to at least one subscriber whose data you can preview against — ideally one with complete data and one with missing fields, so you can test both.
- A clear idea of which tokens should have fallback text if a value is blank. (Confirm the exact steps in your account.)
Steps
- Open the Edition and locate the preview option in the editor toolbar.
- Choose to preview as a specific subscriber, then search for and select the person by name or email address.
- Review the rendered Edition: confirm each token has resolved to the subscriber's real values and that no raw token text (such as a visible
[[first_name]]) remains. - Switch to a subscriber who is missing one or more of those fields and re-check. Confirm the fallback text appears rather than a blank space or a broken sentence.
- Send yourself a test Broadcast to preview the fully rendered email in a real inbox, since some clients render differently from the in-app preview.
Result
The Edition displays each subscriber's actual data in place of every token, with sensible fallback text wherever a value is missing. You can Broadcast with confidence that the personalization reads correctly for every reader.
