Set up newsletters and publications
A newsletter (sometimes called a publication) is a named container that groups related Broadcasts and the subscribers who receive them. Use one when a recurring communication — a weekly digest, a monthly bulletin, a program update — needs its own audience, its own subscribe and unsubscribe controls, and its own reporting, kept separate from your other sends.
Before you begin
- Admin access to the account section where publications are managed (confirm the exact steps in your account).
- A clear name and purpose for the newsletter, so subscribers recognize it in preference and unsubscribe screens.
- The audience you want to attach — an existing subscriber list or segment, or a plan for how people will subscribe.
- A Folder (Project Folder) ready to hold the Editions you will send as Broadcasts under this newsletter.
Steps
- Open the account or audience administration area and choose to create a new newsletter/publication.
- Enter a name and a short description. These appear to subscribers in preference and unsubscribe pages, so keep them plain and specific.
- Set the default from name and address, and a reply-to if it differs, so every Broadcast in this newsletter sends with a consistent identity.
- Attach the audience — link an existing list or segment, or enable self-subscribe so new subscribers can opt in.
- Configure subscription options: whether people can subscribe/unsubscribe independently of your other newsletters, and any confirmation (double opt-in) step.
- Save, then build an Edition and select this newsletter as its audience when you schedule the Broadcast.
Result
The newsletter appears in your account with its own subscriber count and reporting. Subscribers can manage it on their own from the preference center, and Broadcasts you send to it are grouped together in reports. Send a test Broadcast to confirm the from address, subscribe, and unsubscribe links behave as expected.
