Meet Gmail and Yahoo Bulk Sender Requirements

If you send in volume (Gmail and Yahoo apply this to senders of ~5,000+ messages/day, but it's best practice for everyone), you must authenticate your domain, provide one-click unsubscribe, and keep your spam-complaint rate low. Miss these and your Broadcasts get throttled or blocked.

Before you begin

  • Access to your sending domain's DNS.
  • Admin access to your account's deliverability settings.

The requirements

  1. Authenticate your sending domain — set up SPF, DKIM, and a DMARC policy (at least p=none) with alignment. → Authenticate your sending domain
  2. One-click unsubscribe — include a working list-unsubscribe header (RFC 8058) and honor requests within ~2 days. This is typically handled by the required footer/unsubscribe link. → Set up the required email footer
  3. Keep spam complaints low — stay below 0.3% reported spam (aim for under 0.1%). Send only to engaged, opted-in subscribers. → Review unsubscribes and complaints
  4. Send with TLS and valid forward/reverse DNS (usually handled by the platform's sending infrastructure).

Steps

  1. Authenticate your domain (SPF/DKIM/DMARC) and verify each record resolves.
  2. Confirm your Broadcasts include the one-click unsubscribe (send a test and check the headers).
  3. Monitor your spam-complaint rate after each send and prune unengaged subscribers.
  4. Add any product-specific settings to enable/verify here.

Result

Your domain is authenticated, every Broadcast offers one-click unsubscribe, and your complaint rate stays under the threshold — so Gmail and Yahoo accept your mail.
